Hello friends. When we moved to London, I resolved to do one “London thing” a week and to write about it. The first months here were so cold and so hectic, I didn’t manage much exploring. But as the days get warmer and life feels more settled, I am making my way out and learning more about this immense and sometimes daunting city. But this week’s exploration was a treat.
Flowers— Flora in Contemporary Art and Culture
An exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery
Last Sunday after church, we made our way to the upscale neighborhood surrounding Sloan Square Station to see the Flora exhibit at the Saatchi Gallery. Sloan Square seems like another universe, the immaculate old townhouses towering over passing Lamborghinis and Roll’s Royces— a world away from the East London Borough where I live. But still, I enjoy being a visitor to this foreign land. Grabbing a bite to eat at the Ottolenghi deli on Pavilion street, I chuckle to myself as I hear a grown woman in her thirties talking about what “Mummy said…” about something. But I was not there to observe the upper classes.
A more attractive prospect called: Flowers— Flora in Contemporary Art and Culture.
I forgot to take a picture of the outside, so Wikipedia’s picture will have to do.
